NO PLACE LIKE HOME......

Hi . My name is Stephanie and I am new to being an author on a blog. I have been an avid follower of many decorating blogs and have become, well addicted. I have found inspiration from many of these sites and thought I would give this a try.

I am a Mom of two wonderful young men. I am married to an amazing man who is in law enforcement. Which is why I named my blog No Place Like Home. After a long, intense day we all like to come HOME where we can feel safe and release the pressures of the day.

Welcome and buckle up for the ride :)

Redecorating

Today was an UNsuccessful day for decorating and thift finds.  Mr. No Place Like Home and I went to Danville to a used furniture store.  Found lovely sofas, tables and knick-knacks and wouldnt you know....they were all spoken for.  Placed on HOLD/SOLD/LAY AWAY.

After being somewhat defeated, I came home, and went to some of my favorite blogs for inspiration.  LOVE The Old Painted Cottages decorating style.  Not my "normal" style, but ready for a change.  I have always liked color in my home.  So me might say to much color, but I live in Ohio and need color during the long winter months. I am leaning towards painting the living room an Antique White.  I am thinking of getting a sofa in brown.

What do you think?  Replacing my "lovely" mauve recliner with this funky chair.
Simmons® Deluxe Beluga Nesso Earth Arm Chair
Comments?  I will be keeping my burlap curtains....which are actually painters drop clothes that my hubby and I made. Yep the good man can sew.  Bless him!!!!  I hate to sew.

Toying with the idea of painting the ugly floors....maybe just the stair case. Thoughts?  You all know I would LOVE to paint the woodwork white, however, Mr says NO WAY.  GRRrrr.
I will be posting the before and afters once we start this project.
Open to comments, ideas.
Thanks for checking in......

Ohio Winter Day

Well it is another cold winter day here in Ohio.  Thankfully the sun is out and makes it seem less cold.
I hope to show posts on home decor, thrifting ideas, recipes and life in general. This may or may not work, but I am going to give it a try.  I am open to encouragement, and advice or what to do or not do on this blog.
To start I do not have many photos, but plan to add as I go.

Since I did mention it is a cold winter day, I thought I would share a favorite recipe my family enjoys on cold days.
Taco Bake
1.5 # ground beef, browned and drained
1 can corn with juice
1 package taco seasoning
1 can tomato sauce
1 package shredded cheese
2 packs, Jiffy or Corn muffin mix - Follow recipe and add a little extra milk.

Brown and drain the ground beef.  Add taco seasoning mix, cook slightly to infuse the seasoning.  Add corn with juice and tomato sauce, mix together. Place mix in large casserole baking dish.  Add layer of cheese and cover with Jiffy corn mix.  Bake 375 degree over until top is golden - about 20 minutes.

Serve with sour cream, lettuce and salsa.  Delicious and easy.

Credit to Lisa  for the recipe that we fell in love with!!
